8 things you’ll never need to know about me!

Oh man, I’ve been TAGGED by Troy Bettinger of NotJobs. I’ve been tagged before, by my buddy Jason (not related to Jessica) Alba [and yes you can scroll down to the end and find a fresh pic of our favorite eye-candy] and enjoyed the links that game provided as well as getting to learn about some of the folks who were in the game. Back then, it was only 5 people I had to tag. Now it’s eight… holy cow! Hope they don’t get annoyed with me.

So here we goâ€¦ eight random facts about Carl:

I was an Eagle Scout.
Until high school, I never attended any school more than 2 years.
At the age of 11, I caught an Atlantic sailfish that was 4 inches off the then world record.
I was certified as a scuba diver in 1973.
I have a cousin who was the Mayor of the town where my mom grew up.
In 1970 I spent 6 days in the hospital after being shot in the chest.
My beautiful bride of 22 years and I met while attending the regional training center during our management careers with Pizza Hut. I knew within a few days that I would marry her; we were married in less than a year.
Although I was slated to be a pilot after graduating from USNA, I HATE to fly.

Hi, Wizzer here. Thanks for the tag - I know I’m some way back in this tagging game now so it’s all the more welcome.

I’ve come across some great blogs because of this - I’ve never really thought about recruitment for restaurants before - sort of thought about “hiring now” signs I guess (pretty shallow huh!).

Christine, If I had only I nickel for every time someone asked or I showed the scar…LOL.

Let’s just say that a mentally unstable boy in the neighborhood was trying to avoid a well deserved throttling. He brought a rifle to the fist-fight, I only brought my fists.

Yep, not an unexpected reaction. This would be where I have to pull up my shirt and show the ‘tiny’ scar from the entry wound… and then the larger scar from the exit wound.

Bullet actually nicked the pericardial membrane. My neighbor [pediatric cardiologist] road in the ambulance with me to the hospital. Said he lost my heartbeat 4 times on the way. Ambulances back then were just fast station wagons that could hold a gurney, so they didn’t have all the trauma tools that modern ambulances have.

The worst thing about the whole experience (well, maybe not the worst) was that all I had for a bandage was, umm, a Band-Aid. The freaking entry wound was smaller than your pinky nail. So when everybody asked to see “where you got shot”, it was pitifully anti-climactic.
